 Amish Quit Show

News Release.........Amish Quilt Show, July 14-17, 2011

      The upcoming Summer Amish Quilt Show & Craft Sale will be held at Mr. G's Banquet Hall, 5890 Hwy. 57, just south of Jacksonport, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.,Thursday through Sunday, July 14 through 17.  

     Featured at this exquisite Amish Quilt Show will be over 70 traditional Amish quilts in a variety of popular styles, patterns and colors. All quilting is done by hand as is the Amish custom. Full sized quilts and baby quilts as well as queen and king-sized quilts will be available. The quilts are displayed on either a full /queen or king-sized display bed and will be turned on a regular basis for show goers to view. Gloves are always worn to protect the stunning quilts from being handled by the public and are turned for viewing by show employees.

     In addition to the Amish quilts a wide selection of Amish hand made items - wall hangings in a variety of sizes, patterns and colors will be on hand. Pillows, table runners, place mats, pot holders, table centers, quillows, spice mats, rugs, Amish dolls, miniature quilts and many other interesting gifts hand crafted by the Amish will also be on display and for sale. A nice selection of hand crafted gifts will also be added to the show this year as Mr. G's allows us more space to highlight many of our local and regional artists.

     The traditional Amish bentwood hickory rocking chair with matching side table, handcrafted by Clarence Gingerich, will be on display, in limited numbers. A nice selection of beautifully made Amish baskets in a wide variety of shapes and sizes and for many uses in the home have been handcrafted by the Emma and Samuel Swartzentruber.

 

A variety of excellent books on quilting patterns and Amish quilt trends and the very popular, Tips For Quilters, will be for sale. Several Amish recipe books will be available as well as a variety of excellent paper-back books highlighting many aspects of Amish life. Children’s books, crayon play aprons and pocket purses , kitchen utensil aprons, work tools and coloring books depicting Amish life will be for sale. A number of special Door County Cookbooks will also be available. Those who attend will be pleased with all that will be on display. 

 

     Back by popular demand is Mattie Miller's Cashew Crunch, a crowd favorite and available while quantities last. Amish noodles, peanut butter and Yoder popcorn will be available again this year. 

      Mr. G's, air conditioned for your comfort,  is known for fine food and will be providing lunch and the lounge area will be open. Plenty of convenient free parking is also a plus at Mr. G's.

   An entry fee of $1 will be charged at the door for the Quilt Show. Children age 8 and under are admitted free but must be attended by an adult at all times. Pets are not allowed entry in the hall.
